Literature Text

riptide
pulls you off course
sea spray and salt disguise
wind whipping the waves all over
wall of water crashing along the shore
still standing like I'm made of stone
a rock never to break
I live to face
riptide

sunrise
takes a calm sea
and lays it at my feat
a trophy for yesterdays fight
bygones washed away by the gentle swell
finally at peace with the world
daybreak a blessed sight
thankful for the
sunrise

freefall
into the sea
awakened by the light
ocean revitalizes me
just in time for the upcoming gloaming
I will be ready for the dark
standing still as a stone
waiting for my
freefall
Written for :iconflawedliterature:'s  Contest!      New ContestThis contest will run two weeks.  Please enter as many times as you like!  This week is:
Rictameter
Rictameter is a scheme similar to Cinquain. Starting your first line with a two syllable word, you then consecutively increase the number of syllables per line by two. i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 Then down again, 8, 6, 4, 2 Making the final line the same two syllable word you began with.
You can make a poem out of many Rictameters or just one.  Either is fine.
Here's an example that I have written:

Good luck to all!!!  I can't wait to read the entries.  And remember, you get 100 points if you win!
This contest will end on 12/27 at 11:59 PM.

The shape of this is wonderful - reminds me of waves of the shore.  Especially lovely because it matches the imagery in the poem.
