At home on this lazy Sunday morning, browsing some stellar art and wanted to share.

001.Attend school for twelve years
the one thing they never taught us
was how to say goodbye

White Trash PoetYou could say
I’m just another
broke-ass, good for nothing,
white trash poet.
If I could find the words
worthy of poetic verse,
I’d be so inclined
to agree.
The sanctuary of filth
added grit to the ink
and the theater of freaks
left me speechless.
The war at home
had me dreaming to the backdrop
of shattered things
and the cruelty I inflicted
was purely retaliatory.
I found my own monster
along the way,
sipped hard luck
from a paper sack.
Opened myself up
to the world I knew
and allowed urban hell
to consume me.
Six-one to life
falling short of bliss
with odds that were never
in my favor.
I’m the guy who gets shot
while sitting on the side lines
for reasons I can’t recall.
Maybe I should
dwell on it more,
but mostly I just laugh.
Because you can’t make this up
and hard lines
don’t come from a fairy green life.
Real
is where it’s at.
